Supporting Others without Losing Yourself

A practical, reflective workshop for those who spend a lot of time supporting, caring for, or looking after others and find there's very little left for themselves.

In person at The Vestry, Letterkenny | Sat 26th Sept | 10am - 1pm | €55pp

There are times in life when the people around us need more from us…

You might be in demanding phase of parenthood, caring for an ageing parent, helping a partner through a challenging time, or simply finding yourself being the person others turn to for support.

You want to help and you care, but sometimes feel overwhelmed and exhausted.

When you're used to being there for everyone else, it can be difficult to know where their needs end and yours begin.

Supporting Others Without Losing Yourself is about learning how to stay compassionate and connected without becoming overwhelmed, taking on responsibility that isn't yours, or putting your own wellbeing continually last.

This workshop is about finding that balance.

As a psychotherapist and facilitator, I've spent years exploring what happens when caring, responsibility and emotional load begin to blur together.

I've recently been delivering this work with organisations and staff groups, and I'm now opening it up as a small in-person workshop in Letterkenny.

We'll explore how to remain compassionate and supportive without taking responsibility for everyone else's wellbeing.

During the workshop we'll explore four key areas:

Understanding Behaviour

Recognising distress and making sense of the behaviour and emotional responses you're encountering.

Healthy Communication

Learning how to communicate clearly and confidently when situations are emotionally demanding.

Healthy Boundaries

Understanding where your responsibility ends and being able to hold that line without guilt.

Sustaining Yourself

Developing ways to protect your own wellbeing so that you can support others without carrying what isn't yours to carry.

You'll leave with:

  • a better understanding of your own patterns

  • practical tools for regulating yourself

  • greater clarity around healthy boundaries

  • language for saying no without feeling cruel

  • a renewed understanding of what is and isn't your responsibility

  • practical ways to support others without abandoning yourself

This workshop is for you if you’re;

A parent: Supporting your children's emotions and needs while trying not to lose yourself in the process.

Supporting a partner or family member: Being there for someone who's struggling, while learning where your responsibility ends and theirs begins.

A carer: Providing ongoing emotional or practical support and finding it difficult to switch off or put your own needs first.

A teacher, therapist, healthcare or support professional: Supporting people through difficult situations while managing your own emotional response and maintaining healthy boundaries.

The person everyone relies on: The one people call when something goes wrong: the listener, organiser, fixer or steady one — who sometimes finds themselves carrying more than they intended.

About Me

I’m Roxane, a psychotherapist & facilitator. Much of my work centres around a question I think many of us struggle with: how do we care deeply for other people without losing ourselves in the process?

Through my work with individuals, groups and organisations, I help people understand their emotional responses, navigate difficult situations and develop boundaries that allow them to support others without carrying everything themselves.

This workshop brings those ideas into a practical, supportive space with tools you can actually use in everyday life.
